Hummingbird Investments 

​

( HBIL) entered the Commercial Real estate market with the acquisition of a property in the prime area on the Western Main Rd St James Trinidad. The company built out a 8,000 sqft office /commercial building with basement parking. This building has since been leased and occupied since completion by a regional financial institution for 20 years. The company continued to invest  with the acquisition of additional properties starting with a 6-acre property in the developing area on the corner of Tumpuna Rd and Uriah Butler highway in Arima. This property was developed in phases over a period into a 135,000 sqft shopping and commercial plaza known as Shops of Arima which now encompasses over 70 tenants ranging from a wide range of retail, services, food, banking, entertainment, insurance companies, pharmacy, supermarket, and medical services etc. HBIL continued to invest strategy by acquiring other prime commercial properties throughout Trinidad particularly in high traffic main road areas with multiple properties on Diego Martin Main Rd, Western Main Rd St James, Port of Spain downtown area , Coffee Street San Fernando, Pt Fortin, Princess Town and Eastern Main Rd Barataria all of which are occupied by long term commercial tenants. “HBIL” under its Subsidiary in Barbados also owns warehousing in Lowlands leased to Unicomer ( Courts) , and Speightstown Centre a commercial plaza on the West Coast with a wide range of tenants .

Investment via Capital Holdings Ltd and Subsidiaries

In early 2013 the company made a significant investment with other key partners to form a holding company Capital Holdings Ltd  “CHL” and its subsidiaries which remains under its control and management from inception. This company was used to invest in the acquisition, building and remodelling of various Shopping Plazas in Trinidad such that Capital Holdings Currently owns 100% of Atlantic Plaza, Valpark Shopping Plaza and Maraval Plaza. In 2017 Capital Holdings formed another 100% subsidiary in Barbados to acquire and renovate a 1.5-acre Prime commercial property on Bay Street In Barbados with over 30,000 sqft of A class office spaced leased to various financial institutions and government entities which includes the FSC popularly known as The Bay Corporate Centre. “CHL” expanded into Guyana via its Subsidiary CHG properties and acquired 5 acres of Prime Commercial Land in Houston Georgetown. In 2023 The company Made a major Acquisition of Dome Mall, a prime 6 acre 90,000 sqft Commercial Centre in the heart of Warrens Barbados . In 2024 CHL also acquired Price Lo Centre a 3.5 acre 45,000 sqft Supermarket Anchored centre. Both Properties are currently undergoing internal and external upgrades to facilitate additional tenancy

​Investment Via Orange Grove Properties Ltd

​In 2022 The company formed a 50/50 Joint Venture with DomHad Properties Ltd to acquire the prime corner of Frederick and Queen Street Port of Spain a ,10,000 sqft Commercial building which continues to be leased by a Payless Shoes

Future Vision

“HBIL” under its strong management team, board of directors and Executive Chairman  The company continues to own and operate over 700,000 sqft of Commercial Space throughout the region while focusing on improving its current properties providing value to our tenants and patrons, we also continue to explore opportunities to further expand our real estate and investment portfolio in Trinidad and regionally via acquisition, build or remodel.
